Competitive Swimming

Our competitive wing, named S70, has groomed over 50 competitive swimmers under the experienced guidance of our Mentor, Mr. Adrian Ong who is a registered Master swimming coach (NROC level 3) with the National Registry of Coaches.

He is also a graduate in sports coaching, comprising of applied sports science, coaching pedagogy, sports development, sports team management & professional practice in coaching.

Since our beginnings, Swim70 has brought up numerous swimmers to recognized competitions like the Singapore National Age Group Swimming Championships.

Competitive Swimming - S70

Swimming is a low-impact workout which improves the cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength of every individual. For swimmers who desire to take up swimming as a way to boost cardiovascular fitness and endurance while keeping your joints healthy, our Swim For Fitness programme is perfect for you.

Programme Details

Swimmers who are 6 years old and above and able to swim a minimum of 3 strokes (Freestyle, Breaststroke, and Backstroke) for a distance of at least 50m without aid are welcomed to join our Swim For Fitness squad.

Objectives of the Swim For Fitness Squad:

  • Develop swimmer’s proficiencies in ALL 4 strokes (Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke, and Butterfly) with stroke correction
  • Boost swimmer’s athletic performance through specialized water drills
  • Improve swimmer’s overall flexibility

Training Schedule

Tuesdays or Thursdays + Saturdays

7pm to 9pm

The developmental squad is an introduction to basic competitive skills for swimmers. The squad seeks to transit swimmers up to our Competitive Squad through structured programmes that emphasize techniques across all 4 strokes while building endurance.

Our training programme starts the transition from developing coordination, balancing, and gross motor skills and ultimately to more specific training techniques for the individual strokes.

Programme Details

Swimmers who are 6 years old and above and able to swim a minimum of 3 strokes (Freestyle, Breaststroke and Backstroke) for a distance of at least 50m without aid are welcomed to join our Developmental squad.

Objectives of Developmental Squad:

  • Cultivate enjoyment for the sport
  • Learn the basics of being part of a swim team
  • Develop values, confidence and positive attitudes in swimmers
  • Transition to Competitive Squad
  • Familiarise with FINA rules
  • Ability to understand workouts and sets
  • Refinement of techniques for all 4 strokes
  • Includes land training for strength building (both swim-specific and general)
  • Learn correct turns and dives for individual and medley transitions
  • Active participation in competitions to create fun experiences

Swim70’s competitive squad comprises of Junior and Senior levels. In this squad, the aim is to maintain a level of training commitment throughout the year, as well as competing regularly at local swimming meets to improve performance.

In line with the coaches’ direction, swimmers in this squad will be expected to take responsibility for their training progress and continuously work on their competitive skills. Considering the goals and performance of each swimmer, training plans will work towards achieving their fullest potential.

Programme Details

Swimmers who desire to take part in competitive swimming with Swim70 are required to go through an initial assessment by our Head Coach to ensure that they are allocated to a suitable squad for optimal developmental purposes.

Objectives of Competitive Squad:

  • Set personal/team goals
  • Achieve optimal performance based on ability and commitment level
  • Cultivate team spirit among members across all squads
  • Encourage personal leadership development
  • Focus on competitive development within swimming
  • Strengthen aerobic/anaerobic fitness
  • Includes land training for strength building (both swim-specific and general)
  • Refinement of techniques for all 4 competitive strokes through advanced drills
  • Execution of proficient starts, dives, turns and finishes in race events
  • Achieve national qualification times in competitions
